A Coffee Shops Place in the Community

Is your first 'good morning' usually to your barista? Coffee shops have woven themselves into the fabric of our communities and have commonly become what is known as "the third place." The concept of "the third place" was coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg as being a neutral space where a community can come to interact. If home is your first place, and work is your second, your local coffee shop might be your third place.

Coffee shops provide a unique sensory experience for patrons. It's all in the ambiance; the smell of quality beans, the sound of hot coffee pouring into a mug, the relaxing music lightly playing in the background, the warm tones, and friendly faces. These are all elements that factor into the creation of the perfect third place. 

A coffee shop is a place where creativity is conceived, a place of progress and motivation. You stay focused with a cup of coffee while you study. Catch up with an old friend over a latte. Meet with a new client for a cappuccino. Stop by for a pick-me-up espresso during your lunch break. A coffee shop really is the heartbeat of a community. 

We are so grateful that our cafe has become a "third place" for so many people in our beautiful St. Augustine community.  At Grower's Alliance, we aim to provide a space where our community can come and feel included, welcomed, and find social connection even by simply being near one another in a common space. Our cafe is a place where there is always food on the table, a cup of coffee ready to be sipped, and a friend to be made!
