However, researchers from Florida Atlantic University and Harvard Medical School have set out to debunk this theory. Monitoring 785 people during a span of 5,164 days and nights, tests were performed to see how caffeine before bed affects sleep. Contrary to popular belief, the study showed no disruption of sleep efficiency.
These researchers ultimately found that drinking coffee within four hours of bedtime showed no consequences toward the ability to fall asleep. That could buy a few more hours of productivity. A nightcap coffee could provide the energy needed to help the kids with their nightly homework. Or time to enjoy an evening winding down from a long day without having to sacrifice sleep.
